There’s some real drama cooking this week!
Olivia gone Wilde
With the jawdropping Olivia Munn/John Mulaney drama from this summer, the other Olivia (Wilde) probably thought she was safe.
She probably thought we’d forget about her leaving (the internet’s husband) Jason Sudeikis. She probably thought we’d forget about Jeff’s wedding. She probably thought we forgot about the yacht in Italy.
But the #1 rule of the internet is that no one forgets. Especially not Jeff’s wedding!! (Don’t ask me who Jeff is, I don’t know who he is.)
Alright, brief tl;dr if you don’t know what I’m talking about: director/actress Olivia Wilde reportedly started dating singer/actor Harry Styles this January. This has ruffled some feathers because a. the known timeline indicates that she started dating Styles mere months after splitting from longtime partner Jason Sudeikis (you could also speculate there was infidelity, but no concrete evidence there) b. she is a good 10 years older than Styles (not a terrible age difference, but notable still) and c. she directed him in the upcoming movie, “Don’t Worry Darling” (talks of power dynamics, etc.)
All of this has made a fair number of headlines and spurred the typical fanfare, but some very interesting gossip has emerged recently.
See the TikTok below (the blonde actress it refers to is Florence Pugh, who also stars in “Don’t Worry Darling”)
(A side note: This tweet references DeuxMoi, a pop culture/gossip Instagram account that’s been garnering a lot of publicity recently for correctly predicting Kylie Jenner’s surprise pregnancy, and some of the Mulaney/Munn news.)
Or watch this TikTok, which makes the very bizarre observation that Wilde has several times worn the same outfits as Styles’ ex-girlfriend, Camille Rowe.
There’s been some snark here and there, but I’d say generally, Olivia Wilde has been safe from most Internet Discourse. But…. I feel the tides turning. There’s a sort of crackle in the air. And as all should know, Harry Styles stans are just grown up One Direction stans. And if I know ANYTHING, the involvement of One Direction stans means that this is far from over. So… something to keep an eye on.
New hot girl food, again
This month’s hot girl food is: reheated salmon, rice and seaweed. But specifically prepared by TikToker Emily Mariko.
I saw this TikTok on my fyp a few weeks ago and definitely thought the meal seemed intriguing, but why is this 29-year-old Bay area woman blowing up for reheating leftovers? A non-comprehensive analysis:
The video itself is fairly relaxing. For whatever reason, TikTok food videos tend to be very fast-paced and choppy, so Mariko’s video is a sort of slow reprieve from the highly energetic FoodTok.
The aesthetic: Mariko is an affluent woman cooking up some food in her pretty, clean Palo Alto apartment. For lack of better phrasing, it’s just #goals
ASMR: The crunch of the parchment paper. The mashing of the fork. The squirt of sriracha. A combination of relaxation and aesthetic, this video woos the ASMR crowd for sure.
The ice cube conspiracy: After plating her meal, Mariko places an ice cube in the center, presumably to produce steam and keep the rice soft. However when she takes the food out of the microwave, you’ll notice the ice cube is still there. This has created a lot of buzz, with some alleging that the ice cube is pointless/the food must still be cold if it didn’t melt. (To that I say the ice cube probably half melted, but it doesn’t really matter.)
Everyone loves Asian food. That’s it.
But anyways, everyone’s obsessed with this video! Curious to see how it continues to grow.
Sept. 21 will live forever in our hearts
I’m a week late on this, but there are a few updates.
For the last six years, the best part of the best day from the best song have been the iconic 9/21 videos from writer/comedian Demi Adejuyigbe.
If you haven’t seen them yet, I’d recommend you watch all of them here, starting from his first in 2016.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and Adejuyigbe said that this will be the last year he posts his Sept. 21 video. But of course he went out with a massive bang.
But the best part of it all, is that Adejuyigbe uses the videos to help raise money for charities, this year The Sunrise Movement (political action to stop climate change), Imagine Water Works (helping communities impacted by Hurricane Ida) and the West Fund (finding abortion access in Texas). As of today, he’s raised almost $1 MILLION! For real it’s the best.

If you’re in the mood to suffer, click on the tweet below and peruse the worst of the worst to come from Twitter.
You’ve got your classics like Bean Dad and “Tell us how you feel about student loan debt in three emojis or less,” but there’s also so, so much more.
#Couchgate
The school year is in full swing, which has brought a wave of TikToks showing people surprising their long-distance SO’s at college. Nice, right? WRONG!! Because nothing online can ever be nice!
Likely the most-watched of these TikToks is this one, which has been dubbed the “couch guy TikTok.”
Users are convinced that something is afoot. The boyfriend is too slow to react. The friends seem like they’re holding in laughter. The girls sitting on the couch are being a little too sneaky.
You are welcome to believe whatever you’d like, but this video has blown up to the point that it has almost 30M views and people are making shot-by-shot analyses of its movements and dozens of parodies.
Truly sorry to this poor girl who’s relationship is getting ripped to shreds by the internet.
